Holy Roman Emperor from 1765 to 1790 and ruler of the Habsburg dominions from 1780 to 1790. Here he is discussing ploughing fields, Vienna’s traditional whore race, his mother’s Commission On Chastity, looking into the misbehaviour of the Viennese upper classes, visiting Versailles in disguise. Reportedly he asked that his epitaph read, “Here lies Joseph II, who failed in all he undertook.” He may have failed, but it sounds like he had a great time doing so. Ask him about it yourself, here.
