The remake of the classic 1981 proudly B grade gore fest, Evil Dead, produced by the original creators of the film, Sam Raimi, Rob Tapert and star Bruce Campbell, has topped the weekend box office in the US.


1. Evil Dead, $26 million ($4.5 million international).

2. The Croods, $21.1 million ($34.1 million international).

2. G.I. Joe: Retaliation, $21.1 million ($40.2 million international).

4. Jurassic Park in 3-D, $18.2 million ($3 million international).

5. Olympus Has Fallen, $10.04 million.

6. Tyler Perry’s Temptation, $10 million.

7. Oz the Great and Powerful, $8.2 million ($13.6 million international).

8. The Host, $5.2 million.

9. The Call, $3.5 million.

10. Admission, $2.1 million.
