Jenna Coleman has confirmed the rumours she will be leaving Doctor Who before the end of Series 9.

“I have left the TARDIS – it’s happened,” she told BBC Radio 1 on Friday. “I’ve filmed my last scenes.”Jenna said her exit would air “at some point this season”.

“It’s been in the works for a very long time,” she said, “Steven and I sat down a year and a half ago and tried to work out the best place to do it and tell a really good story.

“We worked out a really good story arc out so hopefully people will love it.”

Jenna has also confirmed she will indeed be playing Queen Victoria in a new eight epsiode series from ITV, saying she was “delighted” to be starring in ITV’s “ambitious drama” Victoria, which will portray a young Victoria, her ascension to the throne and her courtship with Albert.

“She is a vivid, strong, inspirational and utterly fascinating woman in British history and I can’t wait to tell her story,” said Jenna.
