BBC has revealed the Twelfth Doctor Peter Capaldi’s official costume for series eight. And he’s looking rather dapper. Peter’s new look was created by Doctor Who costume designer Howard Burden.

Peter said: “He’s woven the future from the cloth of the past. Simple, stark, and back to basics. No frills, no scarf, no messing, just 100% Rebel Time Lord.”

Showrunner Steven Moffat added: “New Doctor, new era, and of course new clothes. Monsters of the universe, the vacation is over – Capaldi is suited and booted and coming to get you!”

Filming for series eight has begun, with recent pictures revealing Peter dressed in an old-fashioned nightshirt for the first episode. We will also see the return of Strax, Madame Vastra and Jenny. Peter is not the first Doctor to spend his first episode in his sleepwear, Tenth Doctor David Tennant spent his first full episode battling Sycorax the in his pyjamas and dressing gown.
