A traveler known only as “Mr Li” tried to smuggle his pet turtle through security in Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport by hiding it in a KFC hamburger.

Airport staff became suspicious when they noticed “odd protrusions” coming from the hamburger, packed inside Mr Li’s bag.

“There’s no turtle in there, just a hamburger,” Li reportedly insisted. “There’s nothing special to see inside.”

Li’s turtle is now safe and sound, being looked after by a friend. Mr Li said he only wanted to travel with his beloved pet. No word on how the turtle felt about being packed into a hamburger. We suspect he may have been on the disgruntled side.
