The 90-minute one-off Sherlock special is titled The Abominable Bride and will premiere in the U.K. and the U.S. at 9PM on January 1, 2016. This is the first time the series has aired on the same day in both the U.K. and the U.S.. The special is still shrouded in mystery, with Amanda Abbington commenting that the Victorian setting is “not what you think”.

The Abominable Bride is also due for a theatrical release in select cinemas around the world – although details are still to come on the television and cinema screenings in Australia. Shooting for series 4 will finally begin in a few months.

Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman will be joined by recurring cast members Amanda Abbington, Rupert Graves Una Stubbs for The Abominable Bride.
