Quentin Tarantino staged a reading of his leaked script, Hateful Eight, on Saturday. Tarantino shelved the western back in January after first draft scripts were leaked to industry insiders stating he was “very, very depressed” about the leak.

Now Deadline reports the film may see the light of day. “I’m working on a second draft and I will do a third draft but we’re reading from the first draft,” Tarantino told the audience at the reading in the Los Angeles’ Theatre at the Ace Hotel. “The Chapter 5 here will not be the Chapter 5 later, so this will be the only time it is seen ever.”

Regardless of the future of the script, the reading was a hit. Tarantino was joined on stage by Samuel L Jackson, Tim Roth, Kurt Russell, James Parks, Amber Tamblyn, Michael Madsen, Denis Menochet, James Remar, Walton Goggins and Bruce Dern. Tarantino kept the crowd amused during the 3 1/2 hour reading with his on-stage narration and direction “Guys, you are starting to drift away from the dialogue on the page,” he told the actors at one point. “No more co-writing,” he added to a big laugh from the audience. “He’s directing,” said Jackson at another part when Tarantino ran across the stage to whisper something into his ear.
