Legendary Entertainment and the Pokémon Company will launch the first live-action film franchise based on the Pokemon universe. Following the international explosion of Pokemon Go, Deadline revealed Legendary and the Pokemon Company were negotiating after several studios pursued the film rights. The film series will be based on the 2016 video game Great Detective Pikachu, which sees the adorable pocket monster talking in a surprisingly deep voice (voiced by Toru Okawa), donning a deer stalker and solving mysteries.

Watch the Sherlock-esque trailer for the video game below. We’re certainly intrigued by a Detective Pikachu film series!
