First look at Jenna Coleman as Queen Victoria


ITV has released the first image of Jenna Coleman as an eighteen year-old Queen Victoria for their upcoming series Victoria, written by novelist Daisy Goodwin and produced by Poldark producers, Mammoth Screen. Victoria will follow the early life of Queen Victoria, from her accession to the throne at 18 through to her courtship and marriage to Prince Albert.

It has just been announced that Rufus Sewell is joining the cast as Lord Melbourne, Victoria’s first prime minister. Paul Rhys (Da Vinci’s Demons, The Assets) will play Sir John Conroy, Peter Firth (World Without End, Spooks) will play the Duke of Cumberland, German actress Catherine Flemming will play Victoria’s mother, the Duchess of Kent, Eve Myles (Torchwood, Broadchurch) will play Mrs Jenkins, the Queen’s senior dresser and Nell Hudson (Outlander, Call the Midwife) in an undisclosed role.

Victoria series will open with a 90-minute episode, followed by seven one-hour episodes. Jenna Coleman said: “I am delighted to be cast as Queen Victoria in this ambitious drama of her life. She is a vivid, strong, inspirational and utterly fascinating woman in British history and I can’t wait to tell her story.”
