Harry Potter and Star Wars star Domhnall Gleeson has been cast as the angry, rabbit-pie loving farmer Mr. McGregor, murderer of Peter Rabbit’s father, in the upcoming live-action adaptation of Beatrix Potter’s The Tale of Peter Rabbit. Directed by Will Gluck (Annie) and penned by Rob Lieber (Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day), Peter Rabbit will be produced at the Australian animation studio Animal Logic .

Domhnall joins Rose Byrne, who plays the only other live-action role as “Bea”. James Corden will voice Peter and Daisy Ridley and Elizabeth Debicki have been cast in yet-to-be-announced roles. Deadline reports that Columbia Pictures has partnered with Beatrix Potter’s publisher Frederick Warne & Co., now part of Penguin Random House UK, for the movie, and is planning a huge worldwide licensing and merchandising campaign. Peter is no stranger to merchandise, the first Peter Rabbit doll was patented by Beatrix Potter in 1903.
