I thought I had bought this book for a “good” price once and then discovered it was student notes to the book! The book proper does give some understanding of how bad slavery was especially as it was based to some degree on fact. There really was a woman who killed her baby rather than have it brought up as a slave. I heard Toni Morrison give an interview some years ago. She was very astute.
