Elves and men must stand together, ancient heroes must rise again, dragons must fly and Pug, Magnus and the other magic-users of Midkemia must be prepared to make the ultimate sacrifice if the whole world is to be saved.

Raymond E. Feist is one of the fantasy authors I “grew up” on. The Riftwar Cycle was only the second series of fantasy books I read, and I still regard Feist as one of the greats of fantasy literature along with millions of other readers. Thirty-one years and twenty-nine books later, Raymond E. Feist has written the final volume in the iconic Riftwar Cycle. It feels strange. There is something comforting about knowing your favourite author is still releasing book after book, year after year and you always seem to think the tale will never end.

But the end is here. In a lovely blog Jane Johnson from Harper Voyager UK writes about being Raymond E. Feist’s editor at the end of an era.
