JK Rowling will executive produce an adaptation of her first adult The Casual Vacancy for a BBC and HBO co-production.
The BBC announced plans to adapt the novel last year, but have now announced they will be collaborating with HBO to bring the three-hour miniseries to the small screen in the US as well as in the UK. Filming will begin this summer in south west England.
Jo will executive produce alongside her literary agent Neil Blair. The adaptation will be penned by EastEnders scriptwriter Sarah Phelps. Spooks, Ashes to Ashes and Doctor Who director Jonny Campbell will be at the helm alongside The Hour producer Ruth Kenley-Letts. Casting has commenced but there have been no announcements to date.
